Bakersfield Improv Reunion Workshops
11:00am to 1:30pm Saturday August 18, 2018
If you have never improvised before, this will be a great place to give it at try. If you are an experience improviser, this workshop will work on foundational improv skills to benefit you too. Improv is very simple, listen and respond honestly. However people often get into their heads and doubt their choices. This class will focus on getting you to notice how your body responds before you have a chance to think. Just noticing how your character feels in the scene gives you a clear point of view to improvise from. Once you know how you feel improv becomes much easier. Improvisers almost always have an emotional response to their scene partner, however we are often too distracted by our brains to notice how we really feel. Let’s focus on finding how you already feel and use that to improvise because inventing is hard, but discovering is easy.
3:30pm to 6:00pm Saturday August 18, 2018
Think creating as a group will lead to chaos and confusion? This class will work on simplifying collaboration through thinking same, not different. Simple ideas with everyone buying in completely to that simple idea makes collaboration easy. Committing to a simple idea is the key to making any group collaboration work. When you all join forces together committing to what you are doing group work can be a joy. If you are brand new to improv this is a great place to start. If you are an experienced improviser, this class will work on group work skills which can still be challenging.
